Bear Creek - Cowen Trail
Bear Creek trails are wonderful, but not very clearly labeled. Some of the trails don't allow horses and some do, some are labeled but the park map is really hard to read. For our ride with the Buffalo Bills Saddle Club we started at the horse arena, followed the Cowen trail (green) across the creek, followed a multi-use trail (red) around the side of the lake then picked up Cowen (green) to turn left onto Mt. Carbon Loop Trail (pink) which brought us back to the multi-use trail (red). It took about an hour and a half, mileage is unclear. Thank you to Cyndi for organizing and leading this trail-ride.
We started off on the Cowen trail, it is nice packed dirt with not too many rocks.
And we rode on the left side of a nice lagoon. If there were birds taking flight it may have spooked our horses.
We came to a fork and headed right across a small bridge.
We went left leaving MCLT to follow a multi-use trail that led us back to the first creek we crossed.
Trail Experience
This was a nice, quiet, lovely trail-ride. All the horses did really well in a large group of 10 BBSC members. Good footing and a nice walk around the park with a trail-leader that knew the trails well. Thank you Cyndi! I wish you were with me during the MCLT, I probably would not have gotten so lost.
