Trailer Parking
Pretty nice trailer parking. Trailers were able to line up behind each other on both sides of the trailer parking area. We rode on Superbowl Sunday and the car parking lot was packed and the horse trailer area ended up filling up with 4 trailers.
BathroomsYes. Nice Boulder County permanent potties.

WaterI believe there is water here but I did not see a spigot.
MountingLots of nice big rocks to use or you can walk to the picnic table.
FootingReally nice small gravel. You can also walk beside the path on the grass. Sam had front shoes and did ok but would have been more comfortable with all 4 shoes.
Horse HazardsMaureen and I went on Superbowl Sunday. We saw strollers and leashed dogs and children. Our horses did well crossing the road and with these common urban obstacles.

Chosen Trail
Maureen, Isis, Sam and I meandered along the Braly trail that circles the Sunset Pond and the Heron Pond on the right side of N 75th street. After circling these two ponds we crossed N 75th and circled the Poplar pond. The purple are two dead-end trails we wandered down before turning around. We rode a total of 3.9 miles in about an hour circling the Sunset Pond more than once.
Trail Experience
The trail was nice and wide with small gravel footing. We started out going left around Sunset Pond.
We did watch for birds and ducks to fly up from the pond but they were being pretty docile on this 70 degree day.
On the North side of Sunset Pond is some rail-road tracks. I am not sure when the trail runs but I think you would be able to hear it coming. Maureen's horse used to live by some rail-road tracks so we were not very concerned.
Then we reached the next fork that goes between the Sunset and Huron ponds. We turned right to go between the ponds.

With the pond to our right we could ride side-by side down the picturesque path.
Below: The first fork. Going left you cross N. 75th street. We went right to continue around Sunset Pond.
|
Going between the ponds we had some rocks and fisherman on the right and a fence on the left. Both of our horses did fine with these obstacles.
|
We continued left around Huron Lake. At the East side of Huron there was a little peninsula where we could take the horses down to the water. Sam got in and pawed around.
|
More trotting and some pony petting.
We went past the bathroom around a little loop that was nicely treed.
Going South from the wooded loop we took two dead ends. We took some pictures with the pond in the background. We crossed back between the Dragonfly and Poplar Ponds, crossed N 75th street and headed back to the trailer.
Rating
Moderately Easy. Amazing! This is a pretty easy trail if your horse is used to joggers, dogs on leash and a very mild road crossing. It was a nice wide and soft trail with lots of different meandering paths and gorgeous views of the mountains on a clear day.
