Stevens Gulch Trail
Chosen Trail
We rode this leg of the trail the day after the Parker Trail Riders cleared some of the trail. However, we still ended up being blocked by a down tree most of the way through the trail. We had to turn around and go back the way we came due to the downed tree. Double check with the camp host or ranger and learn about current trail conditions before attempting this trail.
Trail Experience
We started downhill on Stevens Gulch Trail after traveling counter-clockwise on the Indian Creek Trail #800 from the campground by the gate to the equestrian campground. The fork was well marked. Steven's Gulch is to the left and #800 continues to the far right with the second arm of Stevens Gulch loop in the middle.
We started off downhill through the trees on a single-track.
We passed through a beautiful meadow.
The trail narrowed with thick trees on both sides. There were a lot of sawed off logs from trees that had previously been blocking the trail.
It was a steep downhill until we could not continue due to a downed tree. We all turned around and headed back up the way we came. It was a steep climb and all of our horses were puffing hard by the time we reached the meadow for a break.
