Handy Trail Accessories
Carabiners
You never know what you are going to need to bring with you. Most water-bottles can be clipped onto a d-ring via your carabiner Saddle bags or clip on bags
I don’t use fancy saddle-bags. I find used bags or cloth lunch bags at the thrift store and attach them to my saddle d-rings via a carabiner. |
English Saddle Grab Strap
I like having a nylon or leather stap that buckles from the d-ring on either side of my pommel. I call it my “oh shit strap”. It is a good place to hold on if you don’t have a horn

Fleece saddle cushion
Bums get sore and tired. I also wear bike shorts with padding under my breeches.

Sun rim or shade for helmet
Great for hot summer days. I find it is hard to trot/canter in the wind with my sun shade attached so only use it for walking trails on non-windy days. Treat bag
I carry a small horse treat bag that I attach to a carabiner to my grab strap. Positive reinforcement is a great way to make trails fun for your horse. |
