Viewpoint Trail
Chosen Trail
We rode west from the ATV rental facility and took a sharp right to stay on the Viewpoint Trail. It is a short 0.8 miles but it is all uphill. The footing was really rocky. Echo had easyboots on and did well. Sam's hoof boots fell off and he was very sad and tender on the rocks. He became very dramatic and did not want to walk unless bribed with carrots over the rocky parts. Gaia told me we rode 2.5 miles with 348 feet of elevation gain. We rode this trail in about an hour right before sunset. I would not ride this trail in the dark due to the rocky footing. The gate closes for atvs at 5pm so if you ride slightly after 5pm you will not need to worry about the sound or fast moving atvs in the 20-30 feet of trail that you share.
Trail Experience
If you walk to the far end of the resort to where the atv rentals are located there is another trail that is marked for horses, bikes and hikers only.
Walk 10-20 feet up the atv road then take a sharp right to see the trail marker for Viewpoint Trail 0.8 miles.
The footing was moderately rocky and headed uphill with great views to the east.
Even not quite at the top there were great views.
We rode through a forested area and then the footing got very rocky and Sam acted pretty tender footed once his hoof boots fell off.
We powered through more rocky footing to get to the top of the viewpoint.
We retraced our steps to go downhill. Sam needed some carrot coaxing to get started down the rocky trail. Definitely use some well fitted hoof boots or shoes for this trail!
